Be careful with the words you don’t say.
One more word can change everything.
“What are we eating tonight”
It can become
“What are we eating tonight, my love?”
Now reread it:
Do you feel like it smells like home?
“See you at 8 pm”
It can become
“See you at 8 pm, bring me a kiss”
Don’t you think time has stopped?
“How are you?”
It’s courtesy.
“How are you really?” It’s a hand that remains.
“I’ll be back late”
It’s information.
“I’ll be back late, but I’ll think of you” is presence even from afar.
“Goodnight”
It’s closing.
“Good night, rest your heart”
Is to take care.
“Write to me”
It’s a gesture.
“Write to me if you tremble”
It’s a shelter.
One more word can save an evening, a story, a heart.
It’s a blanket
It’s a light on the bedside table
It’s “I’m here”
When the world is too much.
